OCN's next super social networking mixer is ready to go on Thursday July 24th! It will be held at Kakadu from 7pm until 10pm. Bring your business cards for the one and only focused Overseas Chinese social / networking opportunity in town! Feel free to forward this to your Overseas Chinese friends. The event will be held in our standard social mixer / drinks format: 50RMB entry will get you one free drink, finger food and that original great OCN atmosphere. Also, don't miss our lucky draw with great prizes - featuring Enjoy cards and Crocs shoes! There will be an excellent choice of drinks, including: beer (Coopers Sparkling Ale, Coopers Pale Ale, Coopers Extra Stout, VB), Long Flat Semillon Sauvignon Blanc, Long Flat Cabernet Merlot, soft drinks, basic spirits and Kakadu signature cocktails. After that, drinks will be sold at discounted prices.

Not flying out this winter? Join us for an informal Chinese New Year's dinner.

Although many of us are flying home for Chinese New Year, we realized that are fair few are staying in Shanghai too. For those that are, we're extending a (last minute) welcome to join us for dinner on Friday 8th February.

We were originally planning a small dinner for ourselves - but would like to open the opportunity for all OCNers to get to know each other in a more casual setting - and for the longer-term OCN members, a chance to re-unite and chat.

As we need to book a restaurant, RSVPs are required. If you are interested, as time is short, please email us with a "tentative" number of people (including yourself) ASAP. You can change this to a "confirmed" number once you are fairly sure of how many in your group. Guest's names are not necessary - just # of people (lets work on the trust system). As usual, feel free to invite your Overseas Chinese friends.

We will choose a restaurant depending on the tentative # of guests received by Monday 4th February; and please give us final numbers by Wednesday 6th February. We'll aim for a restaurant around 100RMB per head (drinks may be extra). If you have a good restaurant suggestion, please let us know.

The Original OCN Mixer

The venue is Neo Cafe, right near Nanjing West Road subway station and the Four seasons hotel (address below). OCN's next mixer will be at a private mansion in the French concession area, with an iron gate and own private courtyard. How's that for exclusive? ;) The place to look for is the Talk Da Talk Clubhouse.

OCN Summer Barbeque Mixer

Been to our events before? Looking for ways to spend more quality time with other OCN people to forge stronger bonds? Waiting for the first ever daytime OCN event? Wanting to try a new way to mix and network? Well wait no longer. Our first Saturday mixer. Our first daytime mixer. Our first barbeque mixer. The same great crowd/atmosphere. But in a brand new format! Come and join us from 1pm to 5pm on Saturday August 12th, at another great location – Freelance. Freelance has an expansive outdoor terrace as well as a large indoor area (in case of ill weather). The outdoor area is laid-back, has lots of seating, a table-football set, and even a neat outdoor cooling fan system. Entry will be 100RMB, including a full barbeque lunch (meats, salad, chips, etc.), plus one drink of your choice (beer, spirits or softdrink), plus the same great atmosphere as always. The grill will be running from 1pm-3pm, so come early for maximum eating opportunities. And don’t forget your namecards!

We're growing! Our first two events had an great crowd and atmosphere (check out the gallery if you want a reminder) - and we hope to be continuing this in the future! Our next mixer will be on another Friday night, from 6:30pm to 10pm. Don't forget to bring your namecards and come early for the best (and the only!) networking event focused on Overseas Chinese in Shanghai. 50RMB at the door will get you one free drink (red or white wine, cocktails, beer or softdrink), free finger food and a great time! The second Overseas Chinese Network (OCN) Shanghai Mixer aims to bring together even more members than the first to socialise and network!

As you may have seen (or heard from friends), the first OCN mixer had a great crowd and an atmosphere worthy of being the first networking group focused on Overseas Chinese ;)

This OCN Mixer will be at Shikumen Bistro's beautiful rooftop bar with a great balcony view of Xintiandi and Shanghai. Even better, it's on a friday night from 6:30pm onwards.

It is free entrance, with free finger food, and discounted prices for drinks.

In addition, bonus LIVE entertainment has been confirmed: Richie the guitarist will be providing soothing tunes (and some requests) for the evening! Finally, the World Cup soccer match will be played on the big screen from 9pm... what more could you want? Please do arrive early for networking opportunities though! ;)

Our inaugural Overseas Chinese Network (OCN) Shanghai event will bring together as many members as possible to meet each other, to socialise, and of course to network. Everybody is welcome, especially Overseas Chinese!

We've found a beautiful venue in the heart of Shanghai, with great night views of the city. Please try and turn up on time at 6:30pm for the maximum social time possible ;)
