About Us

Overseas Chinese Network (OCN) was founded in early 2006 to build a community focused on Overseas Chinese people living in Shanghai.

Our aim is to provide social and networking opportunities in order to promote the development of our community.

We focus on people matching BOTH of the following points:
(1) Grew-up overseas*
AND (2) Chinese background / heritage
*overseas = outside of Mainland China

All ages are welcome to join us
All occupations are welcome (professional, student, etc.)

Examples of the target audience include (but not limited to):

• xBCs (overseas-born Chinese), including both western-born (USA, Canada, Australia, etc.) and eastern-born (Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thai, Japan, etc.)
• Anybody from Hong-Kong / Taiwan / Macau
• Chinese immigrated overseas
• People with mixed blood (with a Chinese descendent in their family tree)

Beyond our target audience, anybody is welcome at our events. We are often asked about "wives of Overseas Chinese" and "girlfriends/boyfriends of Overseas Chinese" - the response is, please make yourself feel 150% welcome to attend!
